CARES — Canine Assessment Remote Evaluation System for Kennel

CARES is a contactless monitoring system built to evaluate the physiological and behavioral condition of military working dogs in kennel environments. It integrates multiple sensor modalities to track heart rate, respiration, temperature, and behavioral patterns, paired with AI-driven processing for real-time analysis and anomaly detection. Complementary sensor technologies reduce noise and redundancy while specialized processing modules identify patterns indicating normal or abnormal conditions.

Phase I focuses on system architecture and algorithm development using public and proprietary datasets; Phase II will test the system with domain experts for reliability and real-world adaptability, with an eventual handler-facing interface for timely response to detected anomalies. The goal: continuous, non-invasive assessment that improves health outcomes and operational readiness for working dogs in the field.

X-Suit — Explosion-Proof Robot Suit

X-Suit addresses the challenge of operating robotic systems in hazardous environments containing flammable vapors, gases, or dust. It's a protective, explosion-proof upgrade for collaborative robot arms (cobots), designed to meet the safety requirements of Article 500 of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) — enabling safe operation in energetic settings such as the Pyrotechnics facility at Picatinny Arsenal.

The approach modifies existing robot arms rather than requiring new hardware: explosion-proof servomotors and simplified protective measures remove the need for additional electrical or pneumatic conduits, cutting both cost and complexity. The result is a kit adaptable to most existing robotic arms, extending their safety and operational capacity in hazardous settings without major structural changes.
